My Favorite Holiday Book

Here it is almost Christmas, and I have yet to post my most favorite Christmas book. Barbara Robinson, author of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, is my all time favorite Christmas book. I have read it several times, and find that it has become a great holiday tradition to use it as a family read aloud. If you haven't read it already check it out over break at the public library or be first in line to check it out when you return to school.

The Snow May Not Be Falling Outside

The snow may not be falling outside but it sure has been falling in
the computer lab. This week many of the classes spent time in the lab at one of my favorite sites. The link listed below will take you to the site we have been using in class. This site offers a great opportunity for all students to improve their mouse control in a very fun way. Enjoy!

Back When I Was A Kid...

Back when I was your age, we had the Little House On The Prarie Books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. What wonderful stories these books were, and still are today. You will find this series of books in our Fiction section under the authors last name Wilder.

There is now a whole new series of books in the Emergant reader section much like the Little House books. This is a collection of chapter books that follow the same main charaters as the Little House books. I just finished reading Rose at Rocky Ridge last night and found it to be a very fun book to read. I could see myself right there in that log cabin with Rose, ma and pa.

There is also a Laura Collection

and then there is the Caroline Collection

Four Part Of The Library And More

We have been doing so much in Library these last few weeks!! The younger children have continued talking about parts of a book and alphabetical order. Some students made it into the Computer Lab for the first time where they created online snowflakes. Upper grades have been working to complete some projects such as a 20 point test on the read aloud book Shredderman, alphabetical order and online catalog searching. Some classes were able to begin a new project of editing Nursery Rhymes in Microsoft Word in the computer lab.

The biggest lesson that almost all the classes received was the 4 main parts of the Library. Be sure to check with your child about this lesson. We talked about the everybody books, emergent reader section, fiction and non-fiction sections of the Library. I brought in four dogs to represent the four different parts of the library. Non-fictions picture is posted below.

( his real name is Bradley, but he represent our non-fiction books)
